A CROWNING ACHIEVEMENT

Lake Quivira Resident Named Miss Teen Kansas International 2019

(Jan. 30, 2019)  Lake Quivira, Kan. – Isabella Hoehn,14, of Lake Quivira, was recently crowned Miss Teen Kansas International and will go on to compete for the title of Miss Teen International 2019 during the final competition in Charleston, West Virginia, July 25-27, 2019.

Hoehn is a student at Olathe North West High School and an active community volunteer giving of her time and talents to numerous local organizations including Harvesters and Make-A-Wish Foundation.  During her reign as Miss Teen Kansas International, she will promote the Invisible Disabilities Association (IDA) (https://invisibledisabilities.org)

 as a Junior Ambassador and through her own personal journey with an invisible disability, which she is documenting to help others at http://BellaRoseHoehn.com. 

An invisible disability is a physical, mental or neurological condition that is invisible to the onlooker, such as chronic pain, migraines and mental illness. At age three, Hoehn was diagnosed with another invisible disability – absence seizures – a rare condition that causes the person to suddenly stop and then suddenly return to activity. When the seizure occurs, the person is still, stares blankly and often has fluttering eyelids.  As a child, absence seizures can affect learning in school, as well as relationships with family and friends. 

“I’ve been seizure free for five years and it’s important for me to let other children and teens know that there is hope when dealing with an invisible disability,” said Hoehn. “I have caught up three grade levels in two years and I’m now able to participate in activities with family and friends.  As Miss Teen Kansas International and as a Junior Ambassador for IDA, I know I will help so many others overcome many of the challenges of dealing with an invisible disability.”

Hoehn is a member of Olathe North West High School’s Junior Varsity Golf Team and Choir and enjoys riding her horse Miss Rock as well as downhill skiing. 

In addition to each contestant’s charitable platform, International

Pageants, Inc. also supports the National Heart Association’s Go Red for Women program through volunteer and financial support. The Go Red for Women movement is dedicated to fighting heart disease among women.  

The Miss Teen International Pageant is owned and operated by International Pageants, Inc., which also operates Mrs. International, Miss International, and Miss Pre-Teen International pageants.  It is the only platform-based pageant system dedicated to highlighting women’s accomplishments through community support.
